Parenting: A Journey, Not a Competition

When you hear the word parenting, a thousand thoughts might run through your mind, ranging from being an authoritarian parent to an uninvolved one. But what does parenting really mean?

I’m not here to label parenting as “good” or “bad” because parenting is personal. It’s not black and white; it’s shaped by experience, circumstance, and love. In this blog, I want to share what parenting means to me.

The Many Roles We Play

Parents are a child’s first friend, confidant, teacher, and role model. Parenting isn’t just about feeding and changing diapers it’s about shaping a life while also navigating your own. We wear so many hats, and yet we’re expected to do it all perfectly. Truth is none of us do. And that’s okay.

I’m a proud mother of a beautiful baby girl. During pregnancy, I was flooded with advice the do’s, the don’ts, the “you musts.” But the real lesson came after delivery. What worked for someone else didn’t always work for me.

Bringing a baby into the world isn’t easy. It changes you, physically, emotionally and mentally. What a woman truly needs during this time is love, patience, and support. The way people treat a new mother during pregnancy and postpartum stays with her forever.
I was lucky as my parents were my strength. They ensured I got the rest I needed and helped me care for my daughter during those fragile early days. I will forever be grateful.

Work, Home, and Motherhood

When my baby turned one, I returned to work. As an entrepreneur, I had the flexibility to work from home but even with that privilege, juggling everything was overwhelming. Some days were smooth. Others left me drained and on the verge of giving up. But then, one look at my child and everything made sense again.

No One-Size-Fits-All in Parenting

Here’s something I’ve learned that I want the world to understand:
Moms who stay at home with their babies face their own challenges.
Moms who go to the office every day face a different set of struggles.
Moms who work from home are navigating an entirely different balancing act.

None of these paths are easy. All of these moms are trying their best.
So please, stop the judgment.

Let’s Support, Not Compare

Parenting isn’t a competition it’s a journey. And every parent walks a different path. Instead of judging or comparing, let’s support each other. Let’s give each other space to breathe, cry, laugh, and grow.

Because at the end of the day, parents wants is to raise a happy, healthy child and keep a little piece of themselves alive in the process.
